With winter just a couple short weeks away, the “Winter Blues” have begun to set in. Our home state of Ohio has turned rather cold with temperatures near or below freezing for much of the last few weeks. Couple that with a foot injury, and we find our days of hiking have been stalled and all that’s left to do is prepare for the holidays and enjoy watching the snowfall.
Ohio winters can be fickle. Some days are worse than others, and temperatures can fluctuate by as much as 30 degrees in one day! Typically, throughout the year, we take advantage of those mild winter days by getting outside and hiking a trail. The photos in this blog are all from early 2024 (January through March).
As for Rocket, he has been enjoying his days curled up on the couch by the fire where he can see out the window and watch the deer feed on acorns. Maybe it is because he is getting older, now 5 years of age, but we have noticed that he has slowed down considerably. Even so, if we dare mention hike, car ride, or outside, he is quick to spring into action and ready to go.
Until then, we will be dreaming of warmer days and outside activities, which we will need after eating Christmas cookies and lazing around all winter!!!
