Rocket has hiked hundreds of miles on trails across the United States. A typical hike for him may be anywhere from two to five miles but have been up to ten miles on several occasions. He has hiked in the rain, heat, cold, and snow, morning, noon, evening, and night. It doesn’t matter when or where, he is always ready and willing to get out on the trail.

Some hikes are on mountain trails and others are in urban areas. This trail is more populated and located near a larger city in Ohio. Once settled in, we can often let the lead drag behind him so that he can set his own pace, especially if the trail has few to no other hikers on it. He has never seemed to feel comfortable in straying far from us, and we feel fortunate for that.

Some of our best trails have been those that we make ourselves. We use caution and consideration when doing this, always making sure to not trespass or stray into areas that are not safe. Rocket’s favorite part about these types of trails is that they usually involve a dip in the water!

Foggy morning hikes provide an opportunity for some cool photos!

Some trails are really short and give his humans a chance to relive their childhood days!

Sometimes, Rocket finds himself surrounded by flowers in the middle of a field.

Other times, he fixates on chipmunks and the forest in which they run and hide.

And then there are the times that he leaps up on a boulder to get a better view of the trail…and maybe to show off just a little!

One thing is for certain…no matter where the trail begins, where it leads, or where it ends…

And no matter who is along for the hike…

It is always a good trail!
