As another Christmas approaches, Rocket feels the excitement nearly as much as a child does! He and Frank get new sweaters every year that they will wear all winter. In fact, holiday festivities usually begin when the sweater goes on. Rocket and Frank, along with their human companions, take this opportunity to go for a hike or to some fun location to take photos for the annual Christmas cards.
Sweaters and photos are not the only thing that Rocket loves about Christmas. One of his most favorite aspects of the season is the food! Christmas cookies are made at Grandmas every year with Grandpa and the “girls” all there doing their part to make these delicious treats, and certainly, Rocket believes they are made just for him. Every person in attendance presents an opportunity for Rocket to beg for a nibble or two. Not only does he get to taste test the cookies, Sunday dinner always comes first. One mustn’t eat cookies without first eating a proper meal!!!
Rocket is full of antics. On this particular Christmas, he took a great deal of interest in the Christmas decorations. With boxes of decorations drug out from storage and scattered throughout the house, Rocket was in his glory. It wasn’t enough that he could peer into the boxes and grab a thing or two, no, that wasn’t getting him enough attention. In an attempt to be the center of the attention he was seeking, he climbed up on the table and laid down. Well, that certainly worked; all decorating stopped, and Rocket was dealt with. “You get down from there right now!” His response….
…he laid his head down and acted as if he was going to sleep. What a ham!!! I couldn’t help but laugh, even though getting on the table is a big no-no. His excitement and joy helped propel me into an even better holiday Spirit.
Visitors are another source of excitement during the holidays for Rocket. Weather it is his human friends or his furry ones, Rocket is always happy to greet guests and spread the joy during this wonderful time of the year!
Yes, the Christmas Season is a great time for Rocket. The warm, cozy sweaters, the cookies, the dinners, the gifts, the decorations, and the company all become welcomed surprises for Rocket, and these surprises happen almost every day through the holiday season!!! Once the celebrations are over and things return to normal, Rocket settles in for the winter, curled up on the couch, toasty warm in his sweater, and ready for a nap. It won’t be a long one, though. No, Rocket is still too full of energy to sleep the entire winter away. The new year is about to begin!!!
