Rocket Celebrates Christmas

Like most of us, Rocket and Frank love Christmastime, especially Christmas Day! Every year on Christmas Day, they both receive gifts from Santa, visits from family, and lots of yummy treats! When Rocket was a pup, we were able to give both pups their gifts without any issues, but as Rocket’s behaviors developed, we realized that Christmas Day would need to change. Even though Rocket’s behaviors are now under control, we are still very conscious of what might happen if he sees Frank opening a fun gift. For this reason, Christmas gifts are given separately and limited to treats or items that they can enjoy when not in the presence of each other.

Rocket loves balls and toys. Unfortunately, finding opportunities for him to play with them is sometimes difficult as he and Frank are most often together. We do find ways to make it happen but really wish that his toys could be readily available to him anytime he pleases. Sadly, in order to prevent any perceived notions that Frank might get his toys or balls, we opt to only allow play time with these items when separated.

Rocket loves to keep warm and spends all of his “down” time cuddled up against his humans and often roots his way under the blankets with them. His need to stay warm also provides us the opportunity to dress him in sweaters! It is usually right around the holidays that Rocket and Frank receive new clothes to wear for family photos…and to keep warm through the winter!

It’s not just about keeping warm, though. Sometimes you just have to be stylish!

For Rocket’s first Christmas with us, he wore a hat and a bow tie! It amazes me how much this pup tries to please us! Whether we are dressing him in silly outfits, teaching him new tricks, or working on training, his attention and focus has always been so intense. It sure makes photo sessions much easier, unlike Frank, Rocket is a ham in front of the camera!

If Rocket and Frank could sing, I am certain they would be howling you a Christmas carol or two, and as they celebrate another Christmas with family, treats, and a special gift from Santa, they are wishing you all a very Merry Christmas, too!
