When we first met Rocket, we were told that he could possibly be a Lab mix. Many people who met Rocket also commented that he looked like he was part lab. We later learned through DNA testing that this was not even remotely the case. We now know, of course, that Rocket is a mix primarily of Pitbull, Bulldog, and some other small breed. There doesn’t seem to be one iota of water dog breed in his makeup. And yet, he loves the water!!!
Rocket loves the ocean best. There, he can roll in the sand, jump through the waves, and swim for water toys or sticks. On an isolated beach, he can run to his heart’s content, and this makes him very happy.
One might think he is part sand crab by the way he burrows himself into the sand to completely cover his body!
Once the rolling is done, it’s back into the water to rinse off and continue the hike.

There are times that Rocket prefers to stay on shore and watch others play in the water!
After years of training and lots of effort, Rocket is able to watch wildlife without reacting aggressively!
After a full day of hiking, swimming, and playing on the beach, Rocket is ready for the ride home and a quiet night’s rest!
